About Zim Pride
The origin of Zim Pride Tournament can be traced to August 2007 when discussions started between Sam Mutokwe and Shingi (Melbourne) to have a match between Victrian based Zimbabweans and their counterparts in Adelaide South Australia (SA). There were other discussions going on between other states, that included NSW and ACT. The first of these games was peharps planned between Victoria and ACT, but for one reason or onother, that didn't happen and the first interstate game was held between SA and Victoria in Adelaide in 2007. By mere considence, it so happens that the Embassy staff from Canberra were in Adelaide providing service to the Zimbabwe community and they decided to be active participants in this event. In subsequent years, the event was held in Melbourne, Canberra, and Melboune last year, and Adelaide will be hostime the 2010 event. State/territory to host the 2011 Zim Pride tournament will be decided during the 2010 tournament.

The event has increased in size (there are now more participants and its held over a longer period) and it seems to attract more audience. This is a wonderful way integrating Zimbabweans in communities they live and work. The evening entertainment and feastival is getting bigger and better, with star artists taking it more seriously (Tarisai Hushe (Australian idiol finalist) was the star attraction at 2009 event. Now Zimbabweans seem to have decided to make the event an annual event.

The games are held in a true sportsmanship and they provide a wonderful opportunity for young Zimbabweans who may want to take sporting to higher levels.

This is our event, let’s make it the best and get the best out of it!
